Business leaders must not only lead but also manage requiring a comprehensive model
The foundation of business leadership is the ability to Manage Oneself. Resting upon this foundation, are Interpersonal Skills and Management Skills, which give the model structure. Tying the entire structure together is the ability to develop a Strategy and Align the workforce to buy into the strategy.
The Leadership Model also introduces the concept of the business leader as a Responsible Realist. So, what exactly is a Responsible Realist? As explained in the book, being responsible entails adhering to ethical and legal standards, treating every individual fairly and respectfully, respecting the environment, maintaining honesty and openness in sales and marketing, ensuring safety in products, and providing safe working conditions. Being a realist acknowledges that the world is imperfect and accepts things outside their control as they are, using these realities to develop a business strategy that benefits all stakeholders in the business
